Wedding Planning Checklist

Planning your own wedding? Want a rundown on the key milestones to be thinking about at each step along the way? Read on for a top line of things to consider at each stage along the way…

📋 ASAP - book your venue. Some venues are fully booked 1-2 years in advance for weekend dates, so get that date secured as soon as you know you want to get married there.

📋 12 - 18 months out - finalise guest list and send save the dates. If you’re wearing a dress, start booking in wedding dress appointments. Start researching and booking key single date suppliers such as planner, coordinator, celebrant, photographer, videographer, live musicians, DJ.

📋 10 - 12 months out - is generally when we tackle design and styling, think furniture hire, tableware, candles, decorations, and florals (note: if you’ve got your eye on your fave florist, we recommend booking them in for your date ASAP as they can book out quickly!)

📋 5 - 6 months out - send your invites! We recommend an RSVP date of 6 weeks prior to the wedding date

📋 4-6 months out - organise key tastings and trials - cake, catering, hair & make up

📋 2-3 months out - organise final meetings with key suppliers such as DJ, MC, celebrant, photo & video and depending on your venue and design, your venue coordinator and florist. Start working on your on the day stationary designs with your stationer.

📋 1 month out - confirm guest numbers with your venue, caterers, furniture suppliers. If you’re having an on the day coordinator, your briefing with them should be between 4-5 weeks prior to the wedding day so they’ve got ample time to familiarise themselves and assist you in that final month

📋1 week out - final send of your run sheet, floorplan and details to all suppliers, so everyone has the same and most up to date info. If you’re having a rehearsal, that will generally fall on the week leading up to the wedding too

With the right vendor team and planning, the week of your wedding should be fairly smooth, and consist of any final beauty appointments, accessory or outfit collections, and dealing with any final tweaks or edits.
