All things FOOD (aka the most important part of your wedding reception!)

Thinking about what kind of food to serve at your wedding reception but just totally unsure where to start?

Here are our top tips for selecting a menu that is sure to create some lasting memories for your guests and enhance their experience of the day...

Consider your budget (you saw that one coming!)

By now you have to have known about my love affair with all things wedding budgets, so before you begin selecting your menu, it’s important to know how much you’ve got set aside for catering. Food and beverage costs can quickly add up, so it’s important to have a clear understanding of how much you’re able to spend, and then cater accordingly.

Think about your vibe

The style and venue of your wedding will also play a role in selecting your menu. For example, if you’re having a beach wedding, you may want to serve more cocktail-style canapes post ceremony, whereas if you’re having a rustic wedding at a vineyard, a grazing table may be more your thing. For mains, are you wanting guests to be seated, or mingling? Take into account the time of year, as well. If you’re having a summer wedding, light and refreshing dishes may be more appropriate, while warmer dishes may be more fitting for a wedding in the cooler months.

Consider dietary restrictions

Dietary restrictions are becoming more & more common, so It’s important to consider any dietary restrictions your guests may have when deciding on your menu for the day. If you are working with a caterer, make sure to chat through what alternative options they are able to provide for those guests that are gluten-free, vegan etc.

What foods do you actually enjoy?

As always, if something doesn’t reflect what you + your partner are all about- don’t do it! If you’re known for your love of all things pub food and parmi’s, then serving seafood canapes probably isn’t going to do it for you! Make sure that YOU are going to enjoy the style of food before all else!

If you’re struggling to work out the finer details of your big day or you can already see that you’re going to need someone to work behind-the-scenes on the day to ensure everything runs smoothly, book in for your free consult & let’s chat!
